Essex Police 4 - 2 CFC Shalford Reserves 04/04/2010

Essex Police travelled to previously unbeaten league leaders CfC Shalford Reserves with a score to settle. The first game of the season was snatched away from the police in unfair fashion. This game however started with Essex Police going 3-0 up within 15 minutes thanks to excellent passing football that wouldn't look out of place in the Premier league. Goals were scored by Tom Stokes, Matt Noone and Colin Bishop before Alex Crawford nearly added a forth by smashing the ball against the cross bar from the halfway line. More opportunitys followed with CFC Clearing 6 or 7 efforts off the line. On the stroke of Half time Essex Police were awarded a Penalty due to a cynical handball on the line from a CFC defender. The Penalty was duly converted by New penalty take Tom Stokes. The second half started a lot more even than the first half with CFC getting an early goal thanks to a penalty. Essex police continued to press making CFC look very ordinary. CFC went down to 10 men midway through the second half wen frustration got the better of one of their players, catching the ball during play and smashing it into the innocent Richard Ambroses face. Lee Johnston came on during the second half when with 5 minutes to go laid the ball on at the edge of the area for sam Winney who shot wide. The game ended 4-2 between two very good footballing sides.

The Half was drawing to a close when in the 45th minute out of nowhere the Riverview striker broke the offside trap, rushing through to power past keeper Andy Keyes.

The Second half started much the way the first ended. It was SAVED!!!! by Andy Keyes only for the Riverview player to Rush forward and poke home from 1 yard. 2-1 RIver view. However it was not over, in the 80th minute The Riverview forward again beat the offside trap and scored with the outside of his boot into the bottom corner. After the Disappointment of Losing last week in a match where CFC Shalford Were run off the park Essex Police got their league campaign back up and running with an excellently battled performance against a very competant TK Eagles. The Second Friendly of the season saw Essex Police Take on the Essex Police Veterans team that has enjoyed much success over the past two seasons. On the 45th minute captain Scott Threadgold conceded a penalty by pulling on a veteran shirt. The penalty was converted with the last kick of the half. Essex Police were down 1-0.
The half time mitivational team talk issued out by manager Gary Heard seemed to do the trick with the lads coming out all guns blazing in the second half. The veterans conceded a penalty by hacking down Dan Lovrenovic in the box after a silky turn to leave the defender for dead. The penalty was taken by Winger Lovrenovic who passed the ball straight to the Veteran keepers hands. In the 57th minute Essex Police finally made the break through with prolific striker Aiden Walsh miskicking a well placed shot into the bottom corner, shocking even the Veterans keeper. The scoreline did not stay at 1-1 for long with the veterans conceding yet another penalty this time converted with a well placed drive to the keepers right by Stand in skipper Alex Crawford. Nearing the end of the game and Essex Police looked to be heading for a well earned victory. When The veterans winger drifted in a well placed cross to the striker who headed past Keeper Andy Keyes. Essex Police 8 - 1 Ashfield Albion 09/08/2009

The new season kicked off today with the first friendly for the new look Essex Police team. The opponents were Ashfield Albion from the Harlow and District Sunday League division 4. A team who drew 2-2 with us at the same stage of last season. This match saw Essex Police quick off the mark with 2 goals from corners delivered by the excellent Dan Lovrenovic. First new signing Tom Stokes heading in from the edge of the area, then Ashley howard from an almost identical position. Next up was a throw in by captain Scott Threadgold. headed on by Aaron Heard to Dan Lovrenovic who again set up Ashley Howard for an easy tap in. In about the 35th minute Lovrenovic was substituted off with a knock and replaced on right midfield by another new signing Greg Smith. It was smiths turn from the corner to set up Aaron Heard for a towering header beating the goalkeeper to the ball. This brought us to half time 4-0 to the blues.
The second half saw the inclusion of another 3 new signings, Aiden Walsh in up front for Aaron Heard, Andy Lucas replacing Harry Ryan at left back and James Wrenn coming on on the left wing. Essex Police picked up where they had left off in the first half with a quick headed goal by Aiden Walsh from a Howard cross. Shortly after was another Walsh goal again provided by Howard. Ashfield pulled one back with a quick break from defence catching the Essex Defence on a counter attack, scoring a well placed goal to the right of Goalkeeper Andy Keyes. However this did not discourage the battling blues who then saw Tom Stokes score an excellent individual effort driving the ball into the bottom corner from 30 yards. Ashfield then went on an attack beating the now tired Essex defence for a one on one with goalie Keyes who dived to his right to make a save David Seaman would be proud of. In the dying minutes of the game Walsh completed his hatrick with a well place shot to the bottom corner beating the hapless Ashfield Keeper. Set up by the brilliant Colin Bishop also making his debut. Man of the match was awarded to Tom Stokes and The match superstar was given to Andy Keyes.
